Why paint protection film

PPF (paint protection film) is a clear polyurethane film applied over the original paint. Unlike a ceramic coating, it absorbs physical impact: it is the only protection that stops stone chips and scratches.

Protection from stone chips and scratches Around 200 microns of polyurethane absorb road stones, scratches and scuffs that would otherwise chip the clear coat — above all on the bonnet, bumper and headlights.

Self-healing Light scratches and wash marks disappear with the heat of the sun or warm water. The film stays smooth and clear without polishing.

Invisible finish Optically clear: the car keeps its factory colour and gloss. On matte paint we fit matte film so the look does not change.

PPF prices: full front or full car

The price of PPF depends on the area covered and the car. Full front starts at €1500 and full car at €3200, film and fitting included, with a fixed price agreed before we start.

How we apply PPF to your car

01 Inspection and quote 1-2h We check the paint and agree the coverage with you: full front, full car or custom areas. The price is fixed before we start.
02 Preparation and decontamination 2-3h Washing, decontamination and, where needed, paint correction. PPF seals in whatever is underneath, so the surface has to be flawless.
03 Application 1-2d The film is applied by hand, panel by panel, by certified installers, and laid down without bubbles or cuts in the paint.
04 Inspection and handover 1h A final check under the studio lights and a washing guide: in the first days the film is still settling and should not see a pressure washer.

PPF questions: price, lifespan and care

How long does PPF last?

Typically 5 to 10 years. The films we apply carry a manufacturer warranty of up to 10 years; real lifespan depends on sun exposure, how the car is washed and maintenance.

Can you see the film?

No. PPF is optically clear and keeps the factory colour and gloss. On matte paint we fit matte film so the finish does not change.

Can it be removed?

Yes. The film comes off without damaging the factory paint, which stays as it was on the day it was applied. That is what helps the car hold its resale value.

How much does PPF cost in Portugal?

At our Lisbon studio, full front starts at €1500 and full car at €3200, film and fitting included. The final figure depends on the model and the condition of the paint; we always agree a fixed price before we start.

Does PPF cover the whole car or just the front?

Both are options. Full front covers the areas that take almost all stone chips: bonnet, bumper, headlights, mirrors and the front of the wings. Full car protects all the paint and makes sense on premium cars and on EVs with delicate paint.

What is PPF?

PPF (paint protection film) is a clear polyurethane layer of around 200 microns applied over a car's paint. It absorbs stone chips and scratches, heals with heat and does not change the colour or gloss.

PPF or ceramic coating: which should I choose?

They solve different problems. PPF is a physical film that stops stone chips and scratches; ceramic is a liquid layer that adds gloss and repels water but does not protect against impact. On premium cars we recommend both: PPF on exposed areas and ceramic on top.

Is PPF worth it on a new car?

Yes, it is the best moment: the film goes onto untouched paint and protects it from the first kilometre. On a used car we correct the paint first and only then apply, so no defects get sealed underneath.
