"I want matte PPF" is a request we hear often. Behind it there is almost always a mix-up between two different things — worth clearing up before you decide, because the wrong choice ruins the look of the car.
PPF does not give a finish — it preserves the one you have
Paint protection film is transparent. Its job is to absorb stones and scratches, not to change colour or gloss. The final look still comes from the paint underneath.
What changes the look is vinyl: there the finish is the product — matte, satin, gloss, chrome, colour-shift. Two technologies with opposite goals: one protects what exists, the other replaces the look.
The expensive mistake: gloss PPF over matte paint
This is where the confusion costs money. Apply a high-gloss film over factory matte paint and the car stops being matte. The film carries its own clear coat, and that is what defines the reflection from then on.
There is no fixing it short of removing the film. So on a matte car the first question is not "how much", it is "which film".
Matte PPF exists — and it does the opposite of what people assume
There are protection films with a matte topcoat (SunTek Ultra Matte, XPEL Stealth and equivalents). Their purpose is not to make a car matte, it is to protect paint that is already matte without stealing its look. We source these films to order — tell us the car and we handle it.
The rule in short: the film follows the paint. Gloss paint, gloss film. Matte paint, matte film.
What if I want to go from gloss to matte?
Then what you are after is not PPF — it is a vinyl wrap, from €1900. Vinyl changes colour and finish without touching the factory paint, and it is reversible.
The two can be combined: vinyl for the look, PPF over the impact zones. In that case the order of work and material compatibility have to be planned from the start.

In stock we work with Llumar Platinum (200 microns) and SunTek Reaction (190 microns), both transparent, self-healing and warranted for up to 10 years. SunTek Reaction is high-gloss — excellent over gloss paint, to be avoided over matte.
