Headlights take the worst of the road and almost nobody thinks about them until they go dull. Unlike the windscreen they are not glass — they are polycarbonate, a plastic that scratches and yellows over time.
Why headlights deserve protection
- Stones at speed. They sit at the front, at exactly the height that catches whatever the road throws up.
- UV. It is why headlights a few years old turn yellow and cloudy.
- Cleaning micro-scratches. Every wipe with dust on the cloth leaves a mark in polycarbonate.
And the argument that settles it: a modern headlight is expensive to replace. LED and matrix units cost a serious fraction of a repair bill, and deep damage does not polish out.
What the film does on headlights
We apply the same paint protection film we use on bodywork: transparent, self-healing and UV filtering. In practice:
- it absorbs the impact that would otherwise chip the polycarbonate;
- it stops the yellowing, because UV hits the film and not the lens;
- light scratches disappear with heat, as on the rest of the car.
It does not change the light. The film is optically clear — beam and intensity stay as they left the factory.
Smoked headlights are a different thing
Worth separating: protective film is clear and does not touch the light. Smoked film darkens the lens and cuts light output — a different product with a cosmetic purpose, and one that can cause trouble at inspection. Not what we do here.
They are already included in the full front
In the Full Front package (from €1500) the headlights come along with hood, bumpers, fenders and mirrors — the zones where nearly every impact happens. It is the logical way to protect them, because whoever catches stones on the headlights catches them on the hood too.

When to apply
The best moment is on a new car, or right after a headlight unit is replaced: the film goes onto an intact surface. If the lens is already scratched or hazy, we correct the polycarbonate first and only then apply — otherwise we seal the defect underneath.
